The name of the year 2025 - 2026 is 'Vishvavasu'. Chaitra Shukla Paksha Padyami (the day after Amavasya) is celebrated as Yugadi
Ugadi Pachadi:
To remind themselves that life is mixture of happiness and sorrow and it must be handled with equanimity, a special recipe called 'Pachadi' ('Bevu-Bella' in Kannada) - made up of neem flowers, tamarind, jaggery, raw mango etc - will be taken on Ugadhi.
The Kannada and Telugu speaking people celebrate the festival with great devotion. They will go to temple and offer prayers on this new year day
Meeting of friends, relatives, exchange of greetings, special meal are part of Yugadi celebrations.
Panchanga Sravanam:
The hearing (i.e., 'sravanam') of recitation of forecast from traditional lunar calendar 'Panchangam' is one of the special events on new year day.
The general forecast of the following year in 'Vishvavasu Nama Samvatsara Panchangam' will be read and heard by devotees. Hearing classical music, reading their traditional literature are also part of celebration.

- In 2026, Ugadi is celebrated on March 19, 2026 (Thursday). The name of the 2026-2027 year is 'Parabhava'
