Ugadi is celebrated on 19 March, 2026 (Thursday). Chandramana Yugadi is the New Year for Kannada language speaking natives
The name of the year 2026 - 2027 is 'Parabhava'. As per Lunar Calendar, Chaitra Shukla Paksha Padyami is celebrated as Ugadi
Ugadi Bevu-Bella:
To remind themselves that life is mixture of happiness and sorrow and it must be handled with equanimity, a special recipe called 'Bevu-Bella' ('Pachadi' in Telugu) - made up of neem flowers, tamarind, jaggery, raw mango, salt, green chilli - will be taken on Ugadhi.
The Kannada language speaking natives celebrate the Ugadi festival with great devotion. Devotees will go to Temple and have darshan of God on this new year day. Meeting of friends, relatives, exchange of greetings, special meal are part of Yugadi celebrations.
Panchanga Shravanam:
The hearing (i.e., 'sravanam') of recitation of forecast from traditional lunar calendar 'Panchangam' is one of the special events on new year day.
The general forecast of the following year in 'Parabhava Nama Samvatsara Panchangam' will be read and heard by devotees. Hearing classical music, reading their traditional literature are also part of celebration.

- In 2027, Ugadi is celebrated on April 7, 2027 (Wednesday). The name of the 2027-2028 Kannada year is 'Plavanga'
