Finance Ministry Says Over 7.38 Lakh Income Tax Returns Filed in 2020-21

 - Finance Ministry in written reply in Lok Sabha listed out measures taken to make Income Tax Return ITR  filing process simple

- Over 7.38 lakhs ITRs were filed during 2020-21 fiscal year till March 31, 2021 - In 2019-20 the over 6.74 lakh ITRs were filed

- Minister said prefilling of Returns, promoting e-verification of IT Returns, providing online access to tax payers on Tax deducted at source TDS were some of the measures taken to simplify filing

- Amendments in Form 26AS has enabled Tax Payers to look into tax payments, special financial transactions and other information

- For the current year ITR through MS Excel, Java App has been replaced with JSON common offline utility
