Sri Rama Navami 2025 Date & Info - Ayodhya Shri Ram Navami This Year

Sri Ram Navami is celebrated on April 6, 2025 (Sunday). Shri Ram took birth at noon on 'Shukla paksha' Navami Tithi, Punarvasu Nakshatra in the Chaitra month.

Lord Vishnu took avatar as Lord Ram to uphold dharma, protect Sadhus and destroy Raavan. Sri Rama Navami marks the end of nine-day Chaitra-Navratri celebrations.

The Valmiki Ramayana describes that Maharaja Dasharatha desiring progeny invited Maharishi Rishyasringa to officiate Putra Kameshti Yaga which led to the Avatara of Bhagavan Sri Rama.

Maharaja Dasharatha had 3 wives and was blessed with 4 Sons viz., Sri Ram, Bharat, Laxman, Shatrughan. Sri Rama is the elder son born to Mata Kaushalya. Bharata was born to Mata Kaikeyi. Lakshman & Shatrughan are twins born to Mata Sumitra.

Ayodhya Sri Rama Navami Puja - Live in Doordarshan

Special Abhishek, Puja, Aarti will be done to Sri Ram Lala at Ayodhya Sri Ramjanmabhoomi Mandir from around 11.00 am IST forenoon to 12.30 pm IST afternoon

Sri Ram Navami Celebration & Rituals:

At many places, idols or images of Lord Ram will be placed in cradles and swung with devotion using flower ropes.

Akhand Paath Pravachanam i.e., continuous recitals of Ramayana, will begin days in advance. Singing of bhajan, devotional keertans will be held at many places.

At Temples special Homams, Abhishekam, Puja, Aarti will be done amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras. Special flowers and fruits will be offered to Lord Ram.

Lakhs of devotees will throng the Temple to have the darshan of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. Utsav Murthi of Lord Rama will bless devotees in the Mada Veedhis of Temple.

'Ratha Yatra' (Chariot Procession) will be held at many places. 'Sree Sitarama Kalyana Mahotsav' is also held in many places.

In Sringeri the ruling Pontiff Jagadguru Shankaracharya will perform special afternoon Puja to Sri Ram Sita Lakshman sameta Hanuman deities in the afternoon.

As per Sringeri (Karnataka) Panchang, Tamil Nadu Government Calendar, Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) Panchang & Union Government of India Calendar : Sri Rama Navami in 2025 is celebrated on April 6.

This year, followers of both Smarta Brahmins tradition and Vaishnava tradition celebrate Sri Ram Navami on the same day i.e., on April 6, 2025
