Aadi 18 i.e., Pathinettam Perukku is celebrated on 3 August, 2025 (Sunday).
'Aadi' is the name of Tamil Month. 'Perukku' means multiply, increase multifold. Normally on 18th day of Aadi Month in Tamil Nadu, River Flow, especially Cauvery River Flow will be multifold abundant.
People believe worshipping Mother Cauvery on Aadi 18 will increase multifold their prosperity. Farmers will start cultivating on this day to reap harvest on Thai Pongal
Aadi 18 in Srirangam:
On Aadi 18, in Srirangam, Namperumal will come in procession in Thanga Pallakku to River Cauvery Ghat 'Amma Mandapam'. River Cauvery is considered as younger Sister of Sri Ranganathaswamy.
Abhishekam, aradhana will be done to Namperumal. In the evening, Gifts called 'Seer Varisai' will be brought in procession atop Temple Elephant from Srirangam Temple to Amma Mandapam. The 'Seer Varisai' includes Saree, Thirumangalyam, Fruits, Betel Leaf and Nut etc
The Seer Varisai will be placed in front of Namperumal and aradhanai will be done Then the 'Seer Varisai; will be offered to Mother Cauvery. Huge crowd of devotees will gather to watch Namperumal offering of Seer Varisai to his younger Sister i.e., Mother Cauvery
