Ayudha Puja 2026 Date & Info - Saraswati Pooja in Tamil Nadu

Saraswati Puja and Ayudha Pooja is celebrated on October 19, 2026 (Monday) in Tamil Nadu.

The following days are Tamilnadu Government Public Holidays Dates viz.,
- October 19 , 2026 (Monday) - Ayudha Puja &
- October 20, 2026 (Tuesday) - Vijayadashami.

Ayudha Pooja and Saraswati Pooja is celebrated on auspicious Maha Navami day of Navarathri Festival. The tools used in ones profession & books used to gain Knowledge are worshipped on this day

Note:
- Navami Tithi starts at around 9.04 am IST on Oct 19th (Mon)
- Navami Tithi ends at around 10.35 am IST on Oct 20th (Tue)
- Dashami Tithi ends at around 11.44 am IST on Oct 21st (Wed)

As per Panchangam of Mylapore Sri Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Thiruvannamalai Sri Arunachaleshwarar Thirukovil, Tirupati Calendar: Ayudha Puja is celebrated on Oct 19th (Monday). Vijayadasami is celebrated on Oct 20th (Tue)

As per Panchangam of Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetam, Karnataka Government Holidays Calendar Maha Navami is celebrated on Oct 20th (Tue). Vijayadashami is celebrated on Oct 21st (Wed) in Karnataka

Note: In Sringeri, Sharan Navaratri is celebrated from October 11th to October 20th, 2026. Vijayadasami is celebrated on October 21 (Wednesday).

Saraswathi Puja Celebration :


In Tamilnadu, Saraswathi Puja is celebrated on Oct 19th, 2026 (Mon). Goddess Saraswathi is the Goddess of Knowledge. Special Homam, Abhishekam, Puja and Aarti will be held in Temples.

Devotees in their homes, will place the sacred books, Grantham, musical instruments, accessories that are used gain knowledge including computer, pen etc. in front of the Goddess Saraswathi Picture or Idol or Pratika and do Puja to the Deity

The books & accessories of Knowledge placed in front of Goddess Saraswathi will remain untouched till the next day. On the morning of Vijayadashami, devotees will do Puja, Deeparadhanai and read the Books

Ayudha Puja:


In Tamil Nadu, Ayudha Puja is celebrated on Oct 19th, 2026 (Mon). On this auspicious day, the machinery tools, weapons & accessories used in ones profession are worshipped.

People will also wash their vehicles and do puja for them. In Temples, Purnahuti of Chandi Homam will take place on this auspicious day i.e. Maha Navami

Golu in South India:


In South India, during Navaratri, devotees will arrange dolls of God & Goddess depicting various themes in elevated steps in their puja room. This is called as Bommai 'Kolu' or 'Golu'

Friends, Relatives will be invited to see Golu. Daily Special Puja will be done and Prasad, Kumkum will be distributed to those coming to see Kolu.

Vijayadashami:


In Tamilnadu, Vijayadasami is celebrated on October 20th (Tue). 'Aksharabhyasam' initiation of Education for small kids will be done on Vijayadashami. Kids will be made to write 'Om' in a plate of rice. Admission of kids in schools will be done on this auspicious day.

Devotees will also start new ventures, projects on this sacred day. The Pratika of Goddess Saraswathi like Face of Deity made up of Turmeric or Sandal will be immersed in sacred water bodies like Rivers, Seas etc on Vijayadashami

-- In 2027, Ayudha Pooja & Saraswati Puja is celebrated on October 9, 2027 (Saturday)
-- In 2027, Vijayadashami is celebrated on October 10, 2027 (Sunday)
