Aazhi Therottam will be held on March 29, 2026 (Sunday)
On 28th March, 2026 (Saturday) Night at around 7 pm, Sri Thyagaraja Swami will proceed from Yathasthanam to Aazhi Ther via Vittavasal by performing Ajaba Nadanam.
On 29th March, 2026 (Sunday): Timings of Therottam of 5 Deities in the Veethis of Temple are as follows
-- at around 5 am to 6 am - Thiruther of Sri Vinayagar, Sri Subramanyar will be pulled first
-- Morning am - Sri Thyagaraja Swamy AazhiTher Vadam Pidithal
-- at around 11 am - Sri Nilotpalamba Ambal ThiruTher Vadam Pidithal
-- at around 1 pm - Sri Chandikeshwarar Thiruther will be pulled.
-- Devotees will chant 'Arura.., Thyagesa...' while pulling the Chariot
-- Aazhi Ther & Ambal Ther is expected to reach Nilai at around 6 pm to 7 pm IST in the evening

- Height of decorated Aazhi Ther is 96 feet. The breakup of height: Simhasanam 30 feet high, Kattumanam 66 feet high
- Total Weight of Aazhi Ther is 300 tonnes
- Tiruchi BHEL company has modernised this Chariot with Hydraulic Brake on each of the all 4 Iron Wheels - Height of a Iron Wheel is 9 feet
- Vadam(i.e., Rope) used to pull the Aazhi Ther is 425 feet in length - Four such Ropes weighing total 4 tonnes are used to pull the Chariot
- Aazhi Ther includes statues of Lord Brahma, 4 Horses, Yaali etc. The sculpture of all the deities in Sri Thyagaraja Swami Temple can be seen in Aazhi Ther
- Thiruvarur Aazhi Ther has the distinction of getting mentioned in Panniru Thirumurai Thevara Pathigam composed by Nayanmars
- Normally local holiday will be declared to Thiruvarur District on the day of Aazhi Therottam.
- Around 2000 Police personnel will be deployed to provide protection during the Chariot Festival
