Sri Durga Pooja in West Bengal:
In West Bengal, during Sri Durga Puja: Durga Pandal can be seen at many places. Preparation of Pandals and making of Goddess Maa Durga idols begins much earlier before the start of Festival.
The Durga Pooja Festival starts on Sasti when Goddess Maa Durga is welcomed to house. Durga puja is celebrated grandly on Maha Shasthi, Maha Saptami, Maha Ashtami, Maha Nabomi and Bijoya Dashami.
During these days schools, colleges and government institutions will be declared holiday. People will decorate their houses, buy new clothes, play musical instruments, do Puja and celebrate the Festival.
Chandi Parayan, Pushpanjali, Puja, Aarti to Goddess Durga will be done with great devotion. The function ends with immersion of Goddess Maa Durga idol in sacred water bodies like rivers, lakes and seas on BijoyaDasami.
