Durga Puja is celebrated from October 9 (Wednesday) to October 12, 2024 (Saturday). Durgashtami is celebrated on October 11, 2024 (Friday).

Sri Durga Puja Dates:

2 October, 2024 (Wednesday) - Mahalaya Amabasya

9 October, 2024 (Wednesday) - Maha Sasthi

10 October, 2024 (Thursday) - Maha Saptami.

11 October, 2024 (Friday) - Maha Astami & Maha Nabami.

12 October, 2024 (Saturday) - BijoyaDasami (Durga Puja Dasami)

Sri Durga Pooja in West Bengal:

In West Bengal, Durga Pandal can be seen at many places. Preparation of Pandals and making of Goddess Durga idols begins much earlier.

The Festival starts on Sasti when Goddess Durga is welcomed to house. Durga puja is celebrated grandly on Mahalaya, Shasthi, Maha Saptami, Maha Ashtami, Maha Nabomi and BijoyaDashami.

During these days schools, colleges and government institutions will be declared holiday. People will decorate their houses, buy new clothes, play musical instruments.

Chandi Parayan, Pushpanjali, Aarti will be done with great devotion to Goddess Durga. The function ends with immersion of Goddess Durga idol in rivers, lakes and seas on Dasami.
