- "In our ken (awareness) lyeth not His form: None with the eye doth see him" (Op. cit 4-11, 6-9, 4-20). That is to say, the Paramatman, the Highest Self has no form - black or yellow, short or tall - which one could clearly see
- Wherefore no creature of this World, from Brahma down to the plant, sees the Highest Self by the eye. Everybody knows that the eye can perceive form alone
- As to this, neither the scientists nor the masses have any doubt. Just as He is not perceived by the eye because He is devoid of form, so He is imperceptible to the ear and other organs because He is devoid of sound and other such properties
- Accordingly the Kathas describe him as follows " That which is soundless, intangible, formless, inexhaustible, as also tasteless, eternal and inodorous" (Katha Upanishad 3-15)
- Therefore the Self cannot be known by external perception - If it be by manasic or purely subjective intuition, it must be in one or another of the following forms of experience:
- 1) "Bhadrasena is my very self", 2) I am a man, a brahmana, a brahmacharin (Vedic Studentt)", 3) "This is my body, I am the lord of the body; by the eye and other organs I cognise, by the palate, etec, I speak and do other acts, by the manas I experience pleasure and pain; by Dharma and Adharma I go to heaven and hell"
